At the age of 30, I experienced a slipped disc, which led to the development of unhealthy eating habits and a mindset that I was incapable of physical activity, as I feared exacerbating my back condition. During this period, I was seeing my osteopath on a weekly basis.
Not long after, we had the addition of my daughter to our family, and it was only when I found it increasingly difficult to lift her for more than five minutes that I realised I could not continue living this way.
This prompted me to begin working with James. Since then, I have gained valuable knowledge regarding nutrition, exercise, and overall healthy living. Under James’ expert guidance, I have successfully lost 12kgs within eight months.
Since I started my training, I have not needed to see my osteopath, which I consider a significant achievement in itself. I now have much greater confidence in myself, and my back is stronger than ever before.
I wholeheartedly encourage anyone who wishes to improve their physical well-being to book in with James - you won’t regret it.

When James & I were first introduced to one another back in April of last year, I was at my heaviest of over 100kgs, feeling very lethargic and just unhappy within myself and the way I looked.
Within our first conversation we decided to concentrate on my diet and eating habits, this would allow me to lose body fat whilst gaining muscle simultaneously. James presented me a diet and gym plan tailored exactly to what we both agreed were areas for prioritising.
Fast forward to now and the results are unimaginable, having lost just over 30kgs and gaining a vast amount of muscle mass, I can safely say I’m in the shape of my life.
Along this journey I felt confident enough to enter the London Landmarks Half Marathon, not only did i want to complete it, I wanted to beat James’ time in the process, unfortunately i missed out by just 16 seconds, but beat my initial goal of completing it in under 2 hours.

I first contacted James in early May as I wanted to lose a stone. I still had a reasonable level of fitness, running 10K's and half marathons but my times had suffered, as weight had crept on over about 3 years.
We started in mid May with two sessions a week and things began to change immediately. It has been far more that just PT sessions and the added value from understanding my diet, calorie management and how subtle changes like walking instead of driving can make a huge difference.
Since May I have lost over 3 stone, am in the best shape I have ever been I'm enjoying my running again, where its not such hard work and my times are the best they have been for over 5 years.
One of my funniest memories is of James handing me two 10kg weights and saying "of course your times are better, you were basically running carrying these before".
James' style is friendly, the information is clear and the emphasis is on learning and understanding. It also helps that James is a thoroughly nice guy.

So what can I say about James, firstly he is very easy to get on with and makes you feel comfortable, he is always supporting you with your goals even when you haven’t got a training session, he is realistic with helping you achieve your goals and still live your life, when I first went to James I started to love going to the gym but didn’t have a clue what I was doing, James changed that now I have plans to follow and a much better understanding of the gym, if your thinking about taking your fitness seriously I highly recommend you use James.

I approached James for help at the beginning of August, James took time to understand my issues, explaining the benefits of health & nutrition and what were the right foods to help me lose weight and build body strength, whilst being sympathetic to my body intolerance to wheat.
I quickly got into a healthy eating and training routine, training with James once or twice a week. Even though I was slightly intimidated at first. Following James’ advice and making use of his app to track my daily calories, activity & progress was also a great help.
From the very start of my journey the weight began to drop and the positive changes to my body, my health and my mental wellbeing began. The progress was steady, but James was always there with advice and encouragement when I had a wobble or wasn’t seeing the progress I expected after a good week.

I’d been toying with the idea of joining a gym for a few years, whilst I was pretty active and ate what I thought was relatively well, I was increasingly downcast about my dad bod! At the start of every year, I used to tell myself this was the year to join a gym but every year that moment passed until the start of this year when I found James details. However, I continued to procrastinate and then in June this year I took the plunge and contacted James and in July we started working together.
My diet is much healthier, gone are the snacks and I’ve reduced my alcohol intake but that said, I still enjoy my weekends socialising, life is for living after all, I am just stricter in the week and with James helping me focus on the right foods, the rewards are there to be seen, losing over 6kg in 12 weeks.
As for the gym, I was apprehensive to a point, it’s fair to say I’d never set foot in a gym apart from jumping on a treadmill, knowing what equipment to use, why to use it and how to use it were some of the excuses I used to avoid it. James has been great providing workouts which are easy to follow for the sessions I do my own, he’s a top lad, approachable and always willing to help. My only regret is that it took me years to finally take the plunge!

I’ve been working with James for almost a year - the longest I’ve ever stuck to any exercise regime.
In April 2022 I was totally fed up with the way I looked. I hadn’t enjoyed the family holiday because I was so self conscious of how I looked in a swimsuit. It was time to take action!
James helped me focus on my calorie intake and daily steps alongside regular weight training sessions with him. I’ve been able to maintain a busy social life and still make steady progress towards my weight loss goal.
I’ve still got some way to go, but feel so much better in terms of mental health and well being as well as seeing the number on the scales going down.

My journey started back in 2021 when I started working from home so my general level of exercise and movement was at an all time low and that's when I knew I needed to do something.

I have been working with James since the end of January this year and it's the best decision I have made. I suffer with anxiety, especially in the gym and I never thought to get a personal trainer. I have always struggled with my weight and knowing what to do in the gym. I had seen a few people I know use James and I thought I would give it a go. I really didn’t think I would still be doing it 4 months on and a stone lighter.
James has really encouraged me and kept me motivated which I have struggled with in the past. Since working with him I am stronger and have much more confidence in the gym.
James is so easy going and I feel very comfortable, which for me is the biggest thing.

Last year my son and I started at the gym with James.
I’d had major surgery on my back and now needed to safely strengthen and rebuild as well as lose the weight I’d put on from not being very mobile. As well as this I also needed to improve my mental health after suffering a breakdown and early menopause.
James put together a programme and through encouragement and support, I’m now stronger than I’ve been in years, mentally and physically.
I still have the odd moments with anxiety but again James spots this and with focus, I can move forward.
